I went to school this morning as I usually do, then, after school I went over to Adriana and Roberto's place. Adriana and I had agreed to teach each other Spanish and English. We make a great pair as we both know about the same amount of each other's language. Adriana wants to learn English so badly, but gets just as frustrated as I do with my Spanish. She and I talked and talked about all kinds of things: she would try to speak in English and I would correct her and I would try and converse in Spanish and she would correct me along the way. Adriana loves literature and has a few opinions about politics, so it doesn't take much to get her going. There are so many words like 'nonetheless', 'regardless', 'sometimes', however' that I have real difficulty remembering so when she sprinkles them in a sentence I often get stuck and have to ask her to explain in a different way. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with what she's talking about, but mostly, I'm catching on. It felt like I had been there for about an hour when I asked her for the time. She said it was 1 pm... which meant I had been there 4 hours!! Neither of us could believe how quickly the time flew by. As much as I love going to school with the kids, I feel like this way of learning is propelling me to the next level. We decided to meet every Wednesday morning.
