When I told Adriana that I was starting to walk in the mornings, she said she really needed to get some exercise, too, and asked if we can walk together. I was delighted to have a partner to share my pain... I mean triumphs! We set out this morning at 8 am. We met at the bottom of the hill near the river. We had decided yesterday to walk up the road that leads to La Trinidad. Mum and I would walk up that same road for a little bit until the incline started to get too steep, but this morning, Adriana and I kept on walking. I don't have a pedometer, but we walked at least an hour before turning around. We spoke a mixture of English and Spanish... I don't know what was harder, the hike itself or finding all the Spanish words I was trying to say. It was both a physical and mental exercise.... but I feel great! Such a gorgeous day, and I feel lucky to have beautiful and inspiring views to look at in our 'neighbourhood'.
It just keeps going up! Having said that, we were so busy chatting, we weren't really concentrating on the climb.
Our farm is at approximately 7000 feet in elevation and it's way down there in one of the valleys... so who knows how much higher we were when I took this picture. Spectacular views, for sure. Well worth the hike.
From here, we made our way back down. What an amazing way to start the day.

My husband, Kevin, and I are from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We decided to leave the cold winters of the Great White North and the hustle and bustle of our busy lives to reinvent ourselves in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. The planning stage started in June 2011 and we embarked on our new adventure on August 23, 2012. Welcome to our journey... enjoy the ride.
