I have to admit, I didn't really know what to expect in regards to molting hens. I understood that our Bettys would start providing less eggs on a daily basis until they don't provide any for about two months. Then, they're supposed to start up again. Another symptom is the actual 'molting' process. They are losing their feathers on their bottom. You can see the pink flesh, which we couldn't before. At first I thought they were bleeding, but they're just red. Kevin added some vitamins to their food, I've cleaned their hotel and today, they laid nice eggs. We're doing everything we can to keep them healthy and happy. So far, so good.

My husband, Kevin, and I are from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We decided to leave the cold winters of the Great White North and the hustle and bustle of our busy lives to reinvent ourselves in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. The planning stage started in June 2011 and we embarked on our new adventure on August 23, 2012. Welcome to our journey... enjoy the ride.
