This morning we went to visit Tony in La Cima, a tiny town like Copey, just on the other side of Rio Blanco. He had called us a week ago to introduce himself. He knows Cindy and Larry and a few other people in the area. He's originally from the United States, but has lived in Costa Rica for over 20 years. He used to be a mechanic in San Jose for a long time until he decided he had had enough of the city and bought 4 acres in the mountains. He's now learning to grow mushrooms. The climate here is apparently very conducive to mushroom growing and he's decided to give it a try. He has quite the set-up. It was very interesting to learn the process. We bought a bag of Oyster mushrooms, and hopefully in a couple of weeks we'll have mushrooms growing for our own consumption. Can't wait. Then we were invited in for coffee, tea and homemade danishes. We're learning you never just go for a visit without a hot beverage and some kind of food being served. It's just the way here. We chatted with Tony and his girlfriend, Maria, for quite some time, sharing different ideas on possible businesses. Nice people.
