We arrived in Costa Rica during the rainy season, so we quickly got used to beautiful sunny mornings and wet afternoons. By December, the winds shifted and moved all the dark clouds away and it has rarely rained since. We've had some of that mist on a few days, but nothing really to write home about. Yesterday, after I dropped off our guests in Copey to pick up their sedan, it started to spit. Although I was happy with the prospects of a bit of moisture, but didn't hold much hope for any real amount of rain. Well, the clouds got thicker and it rained all day. I love our sunshine, no question, but rain serves its purpose as well and it's just as important for the life of our farm. The rain continued all through the night even. We had a lightning show, too. We secretly hope it continues all weekend and stop just in time for our guests who arrive on Monday. The rainy season doesn't officially start until April, and when it does, it's a slow ramp up from month to month until it rains at its worse in September and October. We have yet to experience a full year, so for now, everything is still considered 'first'. People tell us things, but stories (or perceptions) tend to differ. We just have to be patient and experience it for ourselves. And of course, seasons are never exactly the same from year to year in Canada or England, why should we think they should be here in Costa Rica. All this to say, we woke up to very damp grass and heavy clouds. It's Saturday and we'll probably just relax, watch a bit of soccer... maybe a movie. We haven't actually done that in quite awhile.

My husband, Kevin, and I are from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We decided to leave the cold winters of the Great White North and the hustle and bustle of our busy lives to reinvent ourselves in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. The planning stage started in June 2011 and we embarked on our new adventure on August 23, 2012. Welcome to our journey... enjoy the ride.
