As I was cleaning out the hen house, there was this amazing butterfly fluttering about outside the door. The neon blue caught my eye. I deliberated whether to bother and get my camera. I figured by the time I went all the way to the house and back again, it would be gone... but I did it anyway. Of course, by the time I got back... I couldn't find it anywhere. I hung up my camera on the hook and continued my chores. A few minutes later, there it was, back again. I quickly got the camera and started clicking. I must have taken over 50 shots, trying to capture this gorgeous butterfly with its wings open. The underside is a pretty boring beige... nothing really that impressive, certainly doesn't compare to its beautiful, vibrant blue and aqua hues. I looked it up and I believe it's called the Banded King Shoemaker. These pictures simply don't do the colours justice. I still get goosebumps, like a little kid discovering the world for the first time. Quite a blessing. Kevin and I never take this place and our new life for granted. We constantly remind ourselves how fortunate we are.
