I spent most of the morning doing our taxes. Hey, it's got to get done. After that, I got the guesthouse ready for tomorrow's guests. Then, I went to Santa Maria to pick up a few things and drove to Seidy's house for 3 pm, as agreed to earlier. We wanted to get together to reply to an email from a gentleman we met in January and is part of the Kiwanis Club. We're working with him to try and create a partnership between his chapter and the Copey Learning Center. Hopefully, he can convince the club to support the center and help us provide as much opportunity to the community as possible... especially the kids. Seidy and I hadn't seen each other in over a week so it was nice to catch up, too. By the time I left, it was 5:15 pm and the sun was setting. I got home just in time to feed the fish and put the hens away. As I was preparing our pizza dinner, the power went out. We haven't had a power shortage since before Christmas, I guess we were due. We expected to come back on quickly, as it so often does, but tonight it took its sweet time. We were in the dark for at least an hour. In the meantime, we decided to cook our pizza on the bbq. Except for the burnt underside, the rest was delicious. As soon as we were finished eating, the power came back on. Figures. Oh well, it was nice to listen to music on our battery-operated iPod. I built a fire and sat close by since I had caught a chill. There must be a new noon because it was pitch dark and not one star in the sky – we couldn't see passed our nose without a flashlight. Kevin said it felt like the good old days, way back when we first arrived when we had no TV. It was kind of nice.

My husband, Kevin, and I are from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We decided to leave the cold winters of the Great White North and the hustle and bustle of our busy lives to reinvent ourselves in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. The planning stage started in June 2011 and we embarked on our new adventure on August 23, 2012. Welcome to our journey... enjoy the ride.
