So it's been a week since Martin cut the hallow 'bee' tree down. After burning and smoking them out, he was finally able to chop it into more manageable pieces. Here are two big pieces we'd like to keep. We're not sure what we'll do with them yet, but I'm sure we'll think of something.
I've been wanting to take a picture of the inside of this hallow tree for a week now, but too many bees still stubbornly keeping vigil was preventing me from getting too close until today.
Kevin is shows off his brawn. This guy has been working like an ox, as has Martin, for days now. I can't believe the size of some of these tree limbs. They've been lugging them across the river and placing them in a big pile, ready to burn. It simply would be too difficult and heavy to lug them up the hill on our side of the property.
But on our side of the river, the men piled all the branches with the leaves.
They'll burn those as well. It will burn for days, I'm sure. Look at the size of it! It will be nice once is all nice and clean. It's looking pretty messy at the moment.

My husband, Kevin, and I are from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We decided to leave the cold winters of the Great White North and the hustle and bustle of our busy lives to reinvent ourselves in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica. The planning stage started in June 2011 and we embarked on our new adventure on August 23, 2012. Welcome to our journey... enjoy the ride.
